A relaxing day by the sea might begin with a leisurely walk, a swim, and some time resting on the beach. If you would like to try an activity, local venues and operators offer jet skiing, banana boating, kayaking, and paddleboarding. Ask about available services and operating hours beforehand, and choose activities that suit each person’s interests.
Jet Skiing
Jet skiing offers the thrill of speed on the water. Before taking part, make sure you understand how to control the craft, where you are allowed to ride, and how much distance to keep from swimmers. If you have never ridden a jet ski, ask how beginners are instructed and supervised before deciding. Agree on the duration, price, and terms covering damage before using the service.
Banana Boating
A banana boat is an inflatable craft towed by a motorboat, making it an option for groups who want to join an activity together. However, it should not be assumed to suit everyone in the family. Ask about age and health restrictions, as well as the number of participants allowed, and tell the boat operator what speed you are comfortable with. Consider each person’s readiness and put safety first. There is no need for everyone to take part.
Kayaking
Kayaking offers another way to enjoy the water in Cha-am, with options beyond the beach. Those who enjoy paddling can consider the mangroves at Sirindhorn International Environmental Park. Contact the park beforehand to confirm the route, activity arrangements, and conditions for your intended visit, and book in advance.
Paddleboarding, or SUP
Paddleboarding combines balance with paddling. Equipment and guidance are available from instructors, who should be booked ahead of time. Beginners should learn how to use the equipment and check whether conditions are suitable, following the supervisor’s advice rather than judging only by how calm the sea looks.
You do not need to fill the day with one activity after another. Choose one main activity and leave time to rest, eat, or walk. People in the group who prefer to stay out of the water can still enjoy the beach together; agree on a clear meeting place and time. For swimming, use permitted areas at Cha-am Beach, away from boat and jet ski routes. Beach activities should leave room for other visitors to relax without disturbance. A backup plan, such as going for a meal or visiting somewhere nearby, makes it easier to adjust your day when sea conditions are unsuitable.
Swimming in the Sea
Prepare before entering the water. Check the forecast, wind and wave conditions, and local warnings with the operator before starting an activity. Wear a life jacket that fits properly and fasten it securely. For children, ask about suitable equipment and any restrictions specific to the activity, and ensure close adult supervision. Also ask what the fee includes, whether supervision is provided, and what happens if the activity has to stop because of the weather. Bring drinking water, sun protection, and a change of clothes, and keep valuables in a suitable place.
An enjoyable day by the sea does not require trying every activity. Choose something you would like to try that suits you, then spend the rest of the day relaxing with your travel companions.
